James Bond and I have something in common.

We both love the Queen. And London. And Scotland.

I was excited to have gotten the chance to see the new James Bond film “Skyfall” this weekend. Being the 23rd James Bond film, it really is shocking/pathetic that it’s the first one I’ve seen. The opening sequence was a visual delight (set to Adele’s “Skyfall”), the plot was good, and the costumes were excellent. Besides loving Daniel Craig (his dapper wardrobe provided by American designer Tom Ford), I was beyond excited at seeing my beloved England and Scotland as the setting for the film (along with Turkey and China). Parts of the movie are filmed in London, as that is where Mr. Bond’s base MI6 is.  The ending scene in Scotland at James’ childhood home was actually filmed at a country house in Surrey, U.K. (southwest of London). Glencoe, Scotland in the Scottish highlands was another dramatic setting of the film’s denouement.

No, I am not British (well, 1/16th of me is- thanks Grandma for my detailed ancestry knowledge) but I did get the chance to spend two months of 2011 in the United Kingdom. Below, I compare my travel pictures with Mr. Bond’s. You can decide whose pictures are cooler.

Obviously I loved the film. Even if you don’t love the U.K./Daniel Craig as much as I do, I am sure you will enjoy it! Cheers!
