Ready or not, Christmas parties have started!

My wonderful friends Benn and Amber had their annual Christmas party yesterday. In typical Sarah fashion, I forgot to take pictures at the party (one of these years/days I’ll get better at documenting my life)…But anyway,  it was wonderful. Complete with lovely decorations, delightful hors d’ouevres, and merry friends. After the fact, I decided I would share with you my Christmas party outfit. I went for bright, cozy, rich, shiny pieces (while staying a bit more on the casual side). Since this was post-party, my hair has seen better days and my pink lip gloss is gone. 😦 Here goes anyways!

New Orange Jacket

This is what I wore last night to dinner with a friend. We went to O’Gara’s, a pub in St. Paul. It was a bit greasy, but the fries were good. It has a lot of Irish-Minnesota history and character to it, which adds something to the experience.

I love wearing my new orange jacket. I think as a Minnesotan, outerwear available in stores here is usually much too boring for me. Hence my purchase of this side-zip jacket. I like pairing it with my pink Doc Martens rubber-soled wedges (my favorite shoe purchase of 2012 so far).

First photo I tried to take of myself is below, but it wasn’t working out too well so my photographer jumped in (aka my roommate).

Jacket: Kensie (Macy’s). Sweater: MANGO (Mango, London). Jeans: White House Black Market. Shoes: Dr. Martens. (Dr. Martens stores) Bracelet: gift! Lavender nail polish: Revlon.

Thanksgiving update: My first two pumpkin pies of my baking life just popped out of the oven. I am super proud, even though the recipe was just from the side of a pumpkin can and I don’t  even know yet if they turned out!

There is this pink…

..that in my head I always call “Dolce and Gabbana pink”. This is because in D&G’s Spring 2012 line there was this floor length, drop-dead beautiful backless gown in this pink. It is the most vibrant, gorgeous, Barbie’s-convertible-but-better, prettiest-tropical-flower-you-have-ever-seen pink. My use of Barbie does indeed cheapen it. Sorry. Because really, this color is rich, rare, risky, and not often done well or right. But I have seen it around recently, and it is definitely a color to wear this winter.

I’m sharing my favorite fuschia finds of November.
